My college roommate had a hangup on this movie, so I ended up watching it a few times.

SpikesOtherDog@ani.socialto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Are there Designs for Kiddie Pool Water Filters?English5·1 day agoIt’s better to use it for watering plants. Get yourself a little scrub brush on a mop pole and you can scrub it quickly with a little bit of dish soap.
SpikesOtherDog@ani.socialto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are your thoughts on people who call others transphobic for saying that transracial (eg a white person identifying as black) isn't a thing?English1·2 days agoMaybe trans racial is a bad term. It used to be called passing, such as a biracial person passing as white. In America’s hateful past, it was more of a mechanism to access goods and services only available to white people.

SpikesOtherDog@ani.socialto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why can computers, like even very old laptops can seemingly get OS updates forever, while mobile devices hardly get a few years of updates before getting stuck out of date?English1·2 days agoI considered this for myself. Seeing the enclosures linked, I might look into that. My wife would probably veto it if it gets in the way or a child can to it apart easily.
SpikesOtherDog@ani.socialto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why can computers, like even very old laptops can seemingly get OS updates forever, while mobile devices hardly get a few years of updates before getting stuck out of date?English8·3 days agoWhen I bought my phone 5 years ago, 128G of storage seemed limitless. Now it appears to be a tightening constraint. Should I be able to increase that storage, I wouldn’t even be thinking of a new phone. Sadly, Samsung removed storage expansion from their flagships.

SpikesOtherDog@ani.socialto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Docker is not available in RHEL10English10·3 days agoOh, I see that RHEL has officially dropped docker support. You can try installing from binaries, but you are definitely striking out on your own here.
I don’t mean to rake you over the coals here, but what is the reasoning for sticking with RHEL for this project? If you are attempting to use it in an paid enterprise situation, you are better off sticking with items on the compatibility list. If you run into issues with other supported services, the first piece of advice will be to remove docker. Since your are not getting support for docker, I would advise running it from a supported OS.

Also, I think I saw that some people had issues with yuzu on Wayland.

I’m wondering if he hasn’t burnt too many bridges to get a call back.
SpikesOtherDog@ani.socialto Free and Open Source Software@beehaw.org•Something curious is going on surrounding X.Org and it's forks...English6·6 days agoI’m oblivious to what is going on. I was under the impression that xorg was obsolete because it had fundamental flaws that moving forward to Wayland would fix.
I’m on xorg still using Mint, and have not moved forward yet because I believe I was going to lose some sort of functionality. I can’t comment on things being better over there or what.
Can anyone explain why this video is just being quietly down voted? It lends credibility to his argument.
It is going to take some massive incident for people to distrust AI. The problem is that it is so damn convincing.

Other than that I have been having a great time not installing drivers on Linux for the 7 other computers I have recently been managing.
HP printers are even easier on Linux than Windows with hplip.
