What kind of storage space does it take up, and how good are the results?

They’re basically all compromised in one way or another. 😞
After reading the article and watching the video of the child who was hit by a cyclist, it seems that the real problem is the on-street parking.
Not surprising, since on-street parking, legal or otherwise, creates a significant challenge and conflict for all road users.
The NIMBYs and planners are idiots for not acknowledging that fact.
You don’t even have to be old. Death or serious illness/injury can affect us at any age, and it would suck if your family lost access to all the self-hosted photos and videos, for example.
“Make it usable” is a great idea.
Sounds good, but if I search “microwave repair” or “improve vo2max” , it comes up with zero results.
That’s the sort of stuff we’d lose if creators don’t move away from YouTube. 😟
I’ve been using that a lot, but I wish there was a “disconnect” on the phone’s app, rather than keeping a persistent connection.
Simplify as much as you can.
And remember, if you’re also self-hosting for family, someone will need to take over all that software and digital clutter when you’re gone.
I’ve been trimming as much as I can on my NAS, including only keeping the most important self-hosted software and heavily purging old files and backups.
Educational content is hard to come by outside of YouTube, so it would suck to have to avoid watching those videos because of ads.
But I’ll do what I have to do in order to avoid ads for as long as possible. And I’ll archive important content in the meantime.
10 fucking years? We’ll have flying cars before we have reasonably sized ones.
The Meta AI app is a privacy disaster
So, it’s working as designed? 🤔
“There’s no recording allowed in here.”
The entire world should be a witness to the insanity of what’s going on. Record everything, even when they say it’s not allowed.
Unfortunately Linux phones, including Sailfish, aren’t really fit for daily use yet, imo.
Consider this:
“Jolla’s AppSupport enables embedded Linux platforms to run Android apps seamlessly.” (SOURCE)
No kidding. I was on a bike ride yesterday through some areas where entire subdivisions, in fairly medium/high class neighbourhoods, had no sidewalks. Retired folks were taking their nightly stroll on the side of the road. I guess kids don’t get to play outside there, either.
A fraction of what an author makes through selling. And libraries end up selling those books after some time anyway, “ripping off” the author twice.
I think we all need to realize that there are so many things we do that could be compared to piracy, yet piracy is the one that’s made to look like the worst thing you can do. It really isn’t.
when in fact the current system is broken to the extent that it allows and enables it.
I’d go as far as to say that the current system rewards it.
This is why wealth needs to be capped.
Billionaires should not exist, and we’ll soon start to see trillionaires in the next 5 years.
Libraries, lending to a friend, donating to someone, buying used… All the same as piracy?
Why aren’t these devices, especially when they are sold/used in the public sector, not “private by design” with certain features locked down unless the user explicitly disables them?
It seems crazy to me that a plain HTTP stream from a hospital could be exposed to anyone remotely.
all cars take up the same amount of space at rest: one parking space each.
I wish all cars only took up one space. It’s extremely common to see large ass trucks unable to fit in driveways, so their ass end hangs out into bike lanes.
And it’s also common to see large ass trucks taking up 2 (or more) parking spaces in parking lots.
And in parking spots in front of stores (i.e. in a plaza), the front end hangs into the walking space of pedestrians.
Like trying to fit a large boat in a backyard swimming pool! They are too big for regular use.
This is exciting, TBH.
I’m going to try it out! Storage space be damned 😂
