Well…your post did laud Israel humiliating Iran. It’s easy to take that as pro-israel.
There are very few conflicts where you can paint the governments involved as black and white “good guys/bad guys”. In the Iran / Israel arena I’d like to see both governments fall.
Iran I’d like to see return to being a much more secular state, and Israel… Well they’ve got some very deep rot to expunge. 70+ years of “Lebensraum” type entitled-expansion. I don’t know how you get that out of the culture.
Fusion (assuming we manage it) is the point where we move from energy scarcity, to energy surplus. Renewables might do this to, but it’s not as certain.
That would change the world in profound ways. The current world powers would fade and a lot of solutions move from “too expensive” to “no brainer”.
The recent Smarter Every Day video on trying to build a “simple” product in the US was quite revealing. Avoiding China produced parts is close to impossible. Not only that, high skill jobs such as tooling design have been outsourced too, so the idea that China is just running the machines is outdated.
All these companies have pumped billions every year into China and are now surprised they can’t compete.

Is the issue here you’re using the term “micro-plastic” in a different way to me? My understanding of it is “small particles of solid plastic often reduced in size through mechanical processes to microscopic sizes which we find throughout the environment, often distributed by water”. You seem to be talking more generally about chemical water pollution.
Agreed, which is why it’s important to have articles out in the wild that show the shortcomings of AI. If all people read is all the positive crap coming out of companies like OpenAI then they will make stupid decisions.
That’s very different though. Nobody claims that the chemicals used in plastic manufacturing are biologically inert, just that the final result is.

So much Python criticism comes from people who don’t know the language.
The weird thing with Jared Leto is that I’ve never felt he’s been very successful, yet he’s always had bunch of people hyping him. I can’t think of him being a leading actor in anything I’ve ever seen. He’s always been lower down the bill. You look at all his award nominations on IMDb and 90% of them are “supporting actor”.
So why is he a name? I always put it down to him being involved with the “right” people in Hollywood. Those people obviously being very wrong.
Right now, China is the problem. Historically it’s been the USA, but right now it’s China.
The upcoming problem is India.
More specifically the problem is coal. China and India are ramping up their usage of coal whilst the rest of the world is phasing it out.
Yes, those countries are also building clean sources of power, but coal is about 55% of their primary energy each. 80% of Chinas primary energy comes from fossil fuels and 90% of India’s. Their rate of new coal outstrips their use of wind and solar.
The earth cannot support the huge populations of these countries unless they are powered by something other than coal. Even oil and gas would be a huge improvement. These two governments hold all the power on this issue.

I’m 6’5" and broad but the number of jump scares I cause is ludicrous. Most people (especially women) seem to have no situational awareness to the point where they miss gorillas approaching them.
If it’s a stranger then I’ll try to announce my approach from further away. If it’s someone I know I’ll see how high I can make them jump.
