I’d like a small software on Linux, with a modern GUI that allows me to save certain important blog articles.
Wallabag is not interesting for me because it’s too heavy (Docker)
I always wondered why do people use Pocket. I just use bookmarks - for example: on the bookmarks toolbar in my browser, I have a folder named “movies to watch”. I just drag the tabs into that folder. Isn’t that similar to Pocket?
My brain being fried from the brainrot and not being able to comprehend “save to read later” probably also plays a part.
Pocket was pretty useless, but I want a service to share links with my friends. Maybe a federated one, but without votes. Like I just want to bookmark something and show it to my friends and see what they are looking at
How about long-press on the address bar, then choose “Copy”? You can paste the link in the chat box with your friend.
Maybe linkhut then? https://drewdevault.com/2025/03/27/2025-03-27-Using-linkhut.html
Premium Pocket actually cached a copy of the page.
It also had human-curated recommendations.
There is a software called Readeck
You can start to self-host it by refering to this page, or you can wait for their flagship managed hosting service for Readeck as stated in the page to.
So far, my Readeck usage experience is awesome, the content of 1 article I saved and read using Readeck was full and no ads and not messy and I could read the article without disruption.
Readeck is also available to self-host using YunoHost
Having just a lightweight laptop, I’m not looking for self-hosting, just a small piece of software…
Thanks a lot! :)
