The title is a reference to the line “how long can the empire’s patience be tested” from the imperial propaganda channels in the show. It’s supposed to sound like state propaganda. I added a sarcasm tone-tag for clarity.
Explanation:
In the referenced episode,
the empire intentionally escalates a protest into a violent riot in order to deploy lethal force, resulting in a massacre. The screenshot is from a character’s perspective who unknowingly helped in that escalation witnessing that massacre.
Truly brilliant character development in Syril.
Now, we will never know what kind of being he truly is.
Now, we will never know what kind of being he truly is.
He always was a tool for fascists. That’s the kind of being he ever was.
A complete tool, yes. But this tool had the rare opportunity to begin to realize how he was being used, shortly before being killed as a direct consequence of his toolishness. That’s good writing.
I agree it’s good writing. I don’t think I agree with the concept of who someone “really is” apart from what they do.
There’s some utility to why; what they would do in other circumstances.
But aside from that, no.
And think of all the sex these officers will need to have after!
For which they will probably charge the city (collectively) entire minutes of overtime!
